Last Thursday and Friday I got called to sub at Chilhowee school in the Art Department.
It has been at least 30 years since I have been in a classroom.
All went well in my morning classes, but in the afternoon I let the kindergarten class out 15 minutes early. Boy was I surprised to see them come marching back in the door. (Long story, but I blame the teachers aid for this).
The younger kids were great, very active and they wore me out! By the end of the day I was ready for a nap.
Now for the older students, some did the work, but most just wasted the time goofing off. What a bunch of slackers.
After trying my best to get them motivated I just gave up.
Never give up!
ReplyDeleteI would have loved it if you were my substitute teacher. Our class could probably have been able to do anything we wanted to. All we'd hear was "No, no class. No, no!
ReplyDeleteI think if you persevere that you will find those kids responding to tou. They test any new person in their building. Don't give up, like Court said.
