BOO!

Better Homes and Gardens had patterns online for dog faces to carve in your pumpkin.
This beagle pattern looks just like Morgan.

I had a pattern for a golden (Like Shadow) but after doing the beagle I carved a second traditional one because it was too much work!

I also had to do a traditional one.

Doggie Day Spa

Morgan was treated to a Mini Spa treatment today.
She spent an hour and a half at the doggie spa having a double warming massaging bath, a South Bark Blueberry facial, moisturing treatment, and a fluffy dry and brush out.
She also had her nails done. (cut and file, no polish)
When I picked her up she was sporting this snazzy pirate bandana. She is so soft and smells so good! What a cutie pie.
Much better than the smell after rolling in something dead down by the pond.

Lions Lake

Morgan and I drove to town to get her nails cut but they were too busy to take us. On our way home we made a side trip to Lions Lake to enjoy the fall leaves and wildlife.

Three Dog Night

Morgan and I went for a walk down BB as we do most days.
Shadow will follow along if he is in the mood which is about 90% of the time.
Tonight we pick up a third walker on our return trip from Tom and Diane's house.
Yep, that would be Allis, who has taken to hanging out at the house now.
This is the second time she has followed us home.

As you can see she is very fond of the 4 wheeler, and oh yes, she loves to ride with Tom.
In fact, I had to ride her home a few days ago on my John Deere tractor because she jumped up on it as if to say, hey Sue, lets go for a ride. And ride we did. Allis was delivered back to the shop safe and sound.

Fall in Mo.

Nancy holds her prize winning pumpkin.

Morgan wants in on the fun as Nancy sets up a fall display out in front of the house.

A must have at any Steeler fan house is a Trick or Treat sign to greet you at the door.

Frosty paws and other random photos.

Sunday morning the dogs wake up to our first frosty day.

Morgan enjoys some ice that was floating in the water bowl.

A much different look from the summer garden.

The blue ribbon winning sunflower is frosty today.

Morgan enjoyed a sleep over play date with her cousin Gwen. These two played hard for two days. They both really loved the crisp cold air.

Are you ready for some football? Go CHIEFS!

Sunday we had the gang over for the CHIEF'S game.
Nancy made a double pot of chili, yum, Kristen made the beer bread, yum, Diane made two apple pies, double yum, and Dee had two bags full of assorted snacks. I helped with the chex mix and made fabric Chief napkins and silverware pouches.
Kristen helped with the Chief's table cloth by sewing the edges for a nice finished look.
The Chief's won for the first time this year! GO CHIEF'S!!!!!!!

Houtsma Harvest Party

Saturday night we were invited to our neighbors for a Harvest Party at Houtsma farm.
Greg and Elizabeth are the people that own the property behnid us, but live down the road where they board horses and have a small farm. Greg is also Morgan's vet.
They had lots of fall themed food and drinks available to eat. Plus it was a great way to meet  the other neighbors that pass by every day on BB when we are out walking the dogs. Yes, I did say dogs. Shadow comes with us on most of our walks, and in fact lives on our deck, or under it now. He spends most of his day with us now.

Quilt in a night?

Diane was offering a class at the Rec Center Friday night to make a quilt in a night. The theme was a Rhubarb pie, or the pie of your choice.
Because the class did not fill up it was moved to a Spring date.
Not to worry, Diane had a few of us over to her quilt shop to make our pies.
Beth is cutting out her fabric for a blueberry pie. When finished it will be a 4' x 4' wall hanging.

Here is my pumpkin pie I am cooking up using orange, browns, and tan for the crust.

My work station.
We did not finish our projects yet but I will keep you posted on our progress.

Crafting in the craft room.

OK, I know the Martha Stewart jokes are going to start after this post but this summer I got a sewing machine at a yard sale. Yesterday I made a fabric napkin for fun. We had a few older ones my mon had and have been using them all summer. (GO GREEN!)
I have three more of this design to sew and then I found some Chief's material I am going to make some for Sunday football.
Could their be a quilt in the future? We shall see my friend!

New England Dinner

In keeping to my promise to cook one family meal a month from back in the day, my mom's New England Dinner in a dutch oven.

New England Dinner
(Mary Jane Kraus)

Start with a Ham in the center and then add veggies around the meat.
I added potatoes, cabbage, and carrots.
Pour in a small glass of water to keep it moist.
Season to your own taste with sea salt and pepper.
Bake at 375* for 1-1/2 hours.
May need more time depending on the size of the ham.

Bon Appetit!

October moon.

The evening moon has been full at night for almost a week. It lights up the room like a large beacon or spotlight on your head making it very hard to sleep. Someone in this house has been a little cranky and took to hanging sheets over the window shades!
Hey Courtney, can you send us out some of those fancy NYC black out shades?

Back to school.

Last Thursday and Friday I got called to sub at Chilhowee school in the Art Department.
It has been at least 30 years since I have been in a classroom.
All went well in my morning classes, but in the afternoon I let the kindergarten class out 15 minutes early. Boy was I surprised to see them come marching back in the door. (Long story, but I blame the teachers aid for this).
The younger kids were great, very active and they wore me out! By the end of the day I was ready for a nap.
Now for the older students, some did the work, but most just wasted the time goofing off. What a bunch of slackers.
After trying my best to get them motivated I just gave up.
