News from BB Highway, sorry no photo's.

Friday night we went to the Holden street fair to have some pork Bar-B-Que that the church cooked up. We were going to meet Nancy after work and the plan was to leave home around 6:30. Well, Diane got a call from a neighbor that some of her cows got out and were standing  in the road. She called Tom but got no answer on his cell. She had to go and get them back in the pasture by herself. (Travis is in IL on vacation with some friends) The cows made their way thru the corn field, with some damage to the plants, but Diane was able to get them all rounded up. I'm sorry I missed this photo op!
We made it to the fair just in time to meet Nancy and the food was d-lish. The home made french fries were soooooooooooo good but the Butter Brickle ice cream was not so good.

Get The Red Out day at UCM.

All In Stitches had a table to display their work on the campus before the opening game of the "Mules" football.
I'm guessing this is the mascot. As you can see it was a sea of red all over the campus. Local business, community groups, and services were out to capture the attention off all who came to the street fair.
It was a fun day but then the rain started and we had to close up early.
The Mules won the season opener, however Nancy and I decided to grab a take and go pizza and head home to watch the first disc of season seven of 24.

Town meeting "Health care reform".

Senator Claire Mc Caskill answers questions on President Obama's proposed plan.
Some who oppose the plan shared their thoughts. At times it became somewhat heated and I must say a few were very rude shouting out to the Senator while she was speaking.
Channel 5 and channel 9 news were there to film the meeting. Diane and I were on the 5 O'clock news seen leaving the meeting.

Trivia and entertainment.

The Nace Brothers Band. We love these guys and will travel to see them whenever they are in the area.We first saw them at Kristen and Rob's wedding and we really liked them. Some of our personal favorite songs are, Suicide Dawg, Goin' Down Slow, and Quitcher Bitchin'.
Good times, good tunes.
Just a little trivia for you.

More from around the fair.

Dog carved in wood.

Chain saw carving exhibit.
4-H kids showing off the livestock in the swine building.

It just would not be a fair without John Deere!

Nancy checking out the equipment.

Winners circle.

Maybe we should enter some of our veggies next year!

MO State Fair- Mini tractor pull

The Beast.
Wild Pink Princess, 5 years old.
The idea is to pull this attached weight as far down the dirt track as you can. This little gal did far better then some older folks in the pull. You go girl!!!!!!!

What the heck is this?

One of the dogs found this under our deck out back. I only hope the rest of the body is not under there as well. We can't figure out what type of animal this may have come from. Any ideas Tom or Travis?

Lunch in the big city of KC.

Nancy has been wanting to come here for weeks. Since we had company in town we had a reason to go. Peg, Russ, Nancy, and I all ordered the "Poor Russ" platter. Pork Bar-B-Q at it's best! But I guess it really hit Russ hard when the bill came and we all left to go to the ladies room.
POOR RUSS!

Happy Birthday to our #1 follower.

Hey Doc, have a happy birthday down in Florida. I know it is not a vacation, but try and have a little fun.

24 Junkies.

Over the past few months Nancy and I have been watching the TV series, 24, starting at season one. We are currently on the last disk of season 5.
It all started when we just happened to see the final episode of season 7 earlier this year. We were hooked and have become fast fans of Jack Bauer, the main character. Since starting this mission we have had little sleep at times trying to watch all 4 episodes in one evening.
I know, get a life.

Pickled!

Kristin drove down last week to can over 30 cucumbers from her garden. Above are dill spears and chips. She also made bread and butter chips as well. Way to go Kristen!

Yikes, more toe-maters!

The tomatoes are out of control. We have so many I am thinking of opening a produce stand out front.

What's growing in the garden this week?

Hey Charlie Brown, check out our pumpkin patch!

Million Dollar View.

This is the view from our dinning room. Everyone who comes to visit talks about it. Because we sit up on a ridge you can see nothing but green grass and blue skies for several miles away.
