Feeding time.

If you look close you can see three hummers at the feeder. These little guys fight each other to get to the nectar.
We also put out an orange for the Orioles that have been stopping by. Nancy saw two Indigo Buntings the other day.

Holidays, down on the farm.

Recycling those fancy PA plates. Nancy's box is on the left and mine on the right. Now we have to decorate them to enter in the fair. I understand first place brings in $4 bucks. Game on baby!

The groups finished works.

Beth in the assembly process of her bird house.

If you spend any holiday at the Weigands you can bet the "farm" that Diane will have a craft project on the agenda. This time we all made a bird house to enter in the local fair. Travis helps cut down the barn wood that came from a building that is falling down out in one of their fields.

It's all about the delivery.

Nancy enjoying her burger.

Your lunch order is delivered by a train in this white basket and lowered down to your table.

Then the train heads back to the kitchen.

When you arrive at your table table you are instructed to pick up the black phone and call in your lunch order.

Tag it.

We are now official Missourians, but what to do with the old PA plates.

I fought the lawn and the lawn won.

Nancy, the " Lawn Doctor".

The lawn has taken out two mowers now. We had to bring in the big dog to take a look see under the hood.
The good news is I didnt't kill two mowers, just a fuse on this one.
The starter was replaced on our small John Deere and we are back up and running.

Field trip to Independence, MO.

The cousins get together for a play date. Gwen and Morgan.

Rob was in charge of making burgers for lunch. They were d-lish!

Kristen's new garden looks great. She has put the rest of our gardens to shame. Way to go Kristen!

Carvin again.

Doug asked me to post my carvings that I am working on so here it is. This is an old carving I started in 1994 in Branson, Mo at a week long carving class. I never finished it so I thought I would get-er-done.
This is my new project, "Scott T. Dog". I just need to texture and burn the fur into the carving this weekend at class. I drive to Pleasant Hill, Mo about 1/2 hour from the house to carve with other liked minded folk and work on any project we want. An instructor is there to help if you need assistance with your carving. Again, just me and the guys.

Working the garden.

Nancy and Morgan working in the garden. We have planted all the fixins for fresh salsa this summer. YUM.

It's the Sheriff, oh no!

So we are sitting in the dinning room and who shows up but the local Sheriff. Well what the heck is he doing here? Yes, I may have said some nasty things about the local mayor because he holds the keys to the water tower where we get our Internet signal from. Don't ask.

As it turns out, he lives behind our property and wanted to hunt some wild turkey on the other side of his fence. That section belongs to Morgans vet, so I told him to talk to him. He was very nice and said to call if we needed anything. Good to know.

Man's Best Friend.

On our way home we stopped at city hall for a photo with the famous "Old Drum" statue. Warrensburg, Mo is the home of mans best friend. So that being said, I had a picture taken with my best friend Morgan.

They could be twins!

Hiking at Knob Noster State Park.

Which way do we go?

Flowers and fungus, how pretty!

What a beautiful path around the lake. A one mile loop, but it felt like two miles to us.
Steppin over the water, even Morgan likes it.

Nice day for a hike with Morgan.

Fruits of the garden.

Get out of my garden! It's mine, all mine!

Chives, oh my.

Rhubarb anyone?

Diane takes some home to make a rhubarb pie.

Hangin with me homies.

Oh Red Dog, just go home already!

COME ON, throw the ball!

Will you please throw the ball? Pretty please?

Spending a little quality time with the neighbors. Hanna did enjoy the apple we gave her, but now she is at the fence every morning looking for more.
Here's looking at you kid!

Hum-dinger.

When we came out last August to take a look at the house we saw that the owner had a humming bird feeder. There must have been a half dozen birds feeding at his station. We were amazed at how close they came to us. Well I got me one them feeders for my very own and now this is our guests drinking that sweet sugar water I brew myself.
Full wing span shot.

Female, smaller and not as colorful.

Amazing little creatures.
Life is good!

Lets wrap this up!

Four of the five brothers and sisters in attendance.
28 family members made it this year.

Danny is so good lookin!

Dave and Maggie playing in the soy beans.

Oh, and lets not forget the family dogs, Morgan and Gwen.

FRIEL FAMILY REUNION 2009
Down On The Farm

Sittin ducks.

Look out, incoming!
Ready, aim, fire!

Now we move on to the water balloon sling shot contest. The idea is to hit your cousin while he takes a quiet paddle around the pond. Sweet!

What a way to spend the day.

Sorry Dave, are you ok?

Load - er up Jonah!

Shootin taters at family members.
And yes, we are having too much fun!
